Often surgical extractions are needed to remove impacted wisdom teeth or if a tooth is severely broken or breaks during a procedure. A surgical extraction may be required if a root tip needs to be removed, or if a tooth has extremely long roots. A strong jaw bone is an important component of a healthy smile, but if the bone is too dense around a tooth that needs to be extracted, our periodontist may want to talk with you about a surgical extraction.
